Ingredients

  • 2-3 salmon fillets (120 grams each)
  • 1 ½ tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • sliced red chilli and spring onions

Instructions

  • Prepare your salmon fillets. Remove the skin and cut them in bite sized pieces.
  • In a bowl, combine the teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds, and add the salmon pieces to the bowl, making sure they are well-coated with the marinade.
  • Cover and let it sit in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Skip this step if you are short of time.
  • Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C), and place the marinated salmon pieces in the air fryer. I remove the grid and place the salmon pieces directly to the basket.
  • Cook for 7-8 minutes, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Once the salmon bites are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and place them on a serving plate. Sprinkle with more sesame seeds, sliced red chillies, and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • If you want to make your own teriyaki sauce, it's quite simple. Combine equal amounts of soy sauce, mirin, sake, and water, and mix well until all combined.
  • Buy the freshest salmon fillets, and if possible, wild-caught ones from a fishmonger. They are slightly pricier than the farmed ones but they taste so much better and are nutrient-rich.
  • Try to cut the salmon into evenly sized pieces to ensure they cook at the same rate.
  • To avoid your salmon sticks to the air fryer basket, brush the basket with a little olive oil or line it with parchment paper with before adding the salmon.
  • To ensure your salmon is perfectly cooked, use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the salmon should be 145°F (63°C) when done.
