Why Make an Omelette in an Air Fryer?
Air fryers have become a kitchen favorite for many because they cook food quickly and evenly. Here’s why this method works so well for omelettes:
- No flipping needed – The air fryer circulates heat evenly, so the eggs cook perfectly without needing to be turned.
- Less oil – Unlike traditional frying, this method requires little to no oil, making it a lighter option.
- Hands-free cooking – Just mix the ingredients, pour them into a dish, and let the air fryer do the work.
- Easy cleanup – Cooking in an air fryer-safe dish means there’s less mess compared to stovetop cooking.
Ingredients You’ll Need

- Eggs – They are the star of this breakfast dish so try and use fresh free-range eggs with deep yolks. Room-temperature eggs whisk more easily and cook more evenly.
- Mushrooms – I usually go for button or chestnut mushrooms when making omelettes, but I also use love using wild mushrooms when they’re in season. Sautéing them first brings out more flavor.
- Cheese – Choose a cheese that melts well. Cheddar, Swiss, or feta all add different flavors.
- Seasonings – Simple salt and pepper work, but adding paprika, garlic powder, or chili flakes can give it an extra kick.

Important Note
Before you start cooking, note that times may differ among air fryers. I develop my recipes using a Cosori 6.8 air fryer. If you’re using a different air fryer, view my recipes as a general guide and tweak the cooking time—add a bit more or cook slightly less as needed.
Making Air Fryer Mushroom and Cheese Omelette is extremely easy and to achieve the best results, you need to follow these simple steps:
To bring out their flavor, cook the mushrooms first. Place them in a small pan, add a little butter, and cook over medium heat for a few minutes until they soften. If you prefer using the air fryer, put the mushrooms in a small oven-safe dish or silicone mold, then air fry at 350°F (175°C) for about 4 minutes.

While the mushrooms are cooking, prepare your eggs. Crack the eggs into a bowl, add salt, and pepper, and whisk until smooth. Stir in the grated cheese and fresh herbs.

Quick Tip!
The more air you incorporate into the eggs, the fluffier the omelette will be.
When the mushrooms are cooked, pour the egg mixture into the dish. Gently stir to distribute the ingredients.

Place the dish in the air fryer and set it to 356°F (180°C) for about 4-5 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a fork—if it comes out clean, it’s ready. If the top looks undercooked, add another 2 minutes of cooking time.

Carefully take the dish out of the air fryer. Let it sit for a minute or two, then use a spatula to loosen the edges. Slide the omelette onto a plate and serve with Air Fryer Toast or salad.
Expert Tips From the Chef
- Use room-temperature eggs – They mix better and result in a fluffier texture.
- Don’t overfill – Too many ingredients can make it harder to cook evenly.
- Pre-cook watery vegetables – Spinach, tomatoes, or zucchini can release moisture, so cook them first.
- Try different cheeses – Although I love cheddar in my omelette, feta, gouda, or Swiss are also great for adding unique flavors.

Recipe FAQs
Let the omelette cool, then store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.
If your air fryer is large enough, you can make a bigger batch. Just increase the cooking time by 2-3 minutes.
You can use parchment paper in the air fryer basket, but a dish gives the best results.
